In May met four years since the Ministry of Environment presented the draft of the Charter of the Mountains, but that still does not pass today, despite the fact that last June the Congress ordered the Government for its approval and adoption of measures aimed at compliance.
Therefore, RedMontañas, involving Ecologists in Action, calls for the May 21 an industrial action to secure the approval of the Charter of the Mountains to the urgent need to defend all the mountains of Spain.
The May 21 will be carried out multiple simultaneous ascents to the summits most representative of each Autonomous Community. This is to draw attention of society on the many attacks that threaten our mountains, especially those related to urban development, construction or expansion of ski resorts and in general the unsustainable pattern of development of mountain areas.
The main claim of this action is to seek approval of the Charter of the Mountains, whose draft will be finished for more than 3 years. The adoption of this Charter Mountain could be the antidote to these ills and reference tool for conservative and balanced management of all our mountain areas. While the main objective is to disseminate locally what is the Charter of the Mountains, and why would help prevent these problems and find solutions tailored to local development and welfare of its people equal, and have it approved by the Ministry of Environment.
from each ascent to record images are intended to produce a DVD on the importance of the Charter of the Mountains and public dissemination.
After these climbs will be held at a Madrid press conference to demand the adoption of the Charter of the Mountain and a reunion with the Minister of Environment, Cristina Narbona.
