DAY OF THE MEETING OF THURSDAY 7.30 TO 9.30
Ahimsa During the early years, has developed and led a practice, theory and performance criteria, which we are characterized as an association and that we bring you here so that we know a little better. Under what works Ahimsa philosophy and criteria? What drives us to keep working? Why and how we act? etc., many questions that make us who are approaching us as for the first time, and we intend and wish to clarify with the summary presented in the leaflet that was produced at the time, entitled to know us better.
Philosophy us
Our theoretical thought and association, it fits more or less, within what we would call Gandhian nonviolence. So for Ahimsa, it is the Education for Peace in its broadest sense. We understand that society as unfair and unbalanced in which we move, change is possible only if we, those who have everything, we are ready for it, developing active nonviolence in its two areas: as a way of life and as a strategy struggle. To make this possible, we understand that it is first necessary to educate for a Culture of Peace, and later develop into larger programs of Education for Peace.
Given the above, development projects, it is most important for Ahimsa, we understand that projects are "bread for today and hunger for tomorrow." Similarly, we believe that projects do not seek the elimination of the causes of injustice, but they are aimed at eliminating the effects of injustice, so that the causes remain indefinitely, while thinking we are reassured that we do something when are we (society) is that we have in our hands the elimination of the causes of injustice.
What works projects ahimsa and under what criteria does it
That said so, and in summary, it may seem that there is a certain contradiction between theory and practice of Ahimsa and carried in the projects we are a long time, however, although not required for projects be the main focus of our action at some point may appear as the main activity, or perhaps only because we are also necessary, particularly because we never lose touch and sensitivity necessary to be a in dealing with the impoverished, but also not the way to eliminate inequalities. For this reason, we only project where we can directly manage, or have direct contact with recipients. It is not our interest to fund projects where there just to send money without knowing anything more, even knowing that it is well spent.
Based on the above: we see no need for a more efficient tax collection and ambition, have released engaged in preparing and presenting projects.
to present a project, we never include a paragraph in the budget for development, management, coordination, etc.., Of the project. We understand that if an entity or individual provides money for development aid, this amount should get integrated, and cost management, development, monitoring, etc, the project should run at the expense of the association that presents the project, and not at the expense of the impoverished. This action is possible in Spain and with the money for development aid, NGOs Spanish in our country are creating over 50,000 jobs.
Why expands ahimsa
In
Ahimsa, we have no desire nor expansionist zeal, we understand that a good coordination with autonomous associations, may be more effective, creating a partnership with implementation throughout the national territory. If we have grown and gone outside the province of Malaga, is rather the desire of members and friends in other places to continue with the work started here in Vélez-Málaga. The creation of delegations is rather difficult for us because that means wherever it is intended to create a delegation to take the criteria by which we operate around here, and this is not always going to be possible, as performance criteria can be done more all valid, we opt for a form of the many forms that may exist.
How are decisions made in ahimsa
In
Ahimsa, we do not take decisions by majority vote but by consensus. When there is no consensus, the following may happen:
a) that the thought can be understood as a minority, but need not be more wrong, is willing to accept the majority thought,
b) thought that the minority to exercise its right to veto. In this case the minority will be respected and therefore the matter under discussion is parked for a better time.
c) can happen in an extreme time, positions are so distant that it is not possible to reach consensus on anything. This would be the time to dissolve the partnership.
What is given and what is received
Ahimsa was created to provide (a thought, an economy, a job, etc) and not to receive. Therefore, any work in Ahimsa is altruistic, it means the following:
A) Ahimsa or allowances are not paid commissions for the design and conduct of work.
B) If a member of Ahimsa is responsible for performing a job, the costs generated by this work shall be borne by the person responsible. For example: someone calls us for a chat, the person who is responsible for delivering the lecture shall bear the cost of transport (petrol, food etc). If this person receives a reward for such activity, this will be a bonus income for the association and never deducted the expenses generated activity (transport, food, etc.).
C) Any person who is considered a partner of Ahimsa material must contribute something to the partnership (or share economic and job share or work).
D) Members of Ahimsa, Ahimsa receive the magazine, and also may participate if they wish in the assembly, and working committees in all organs of the operating partnership. But perhaps the most important thing we can be partners of ahimsa is the guarantee of having the support of a human group that works so that one day poverty, injustice and inequality will disappear in a world heritage that should be also future generations.
How
the delegations
Delegations of ahimsa are created, they must have sufficient autonomy to act and work according to your criteria, without departing from the basic principles that shape the thinking of the association. Each delegation is free to develop their work, focusing more on one or more areas that are part of what we call Education for a Culture of Peace.
In general, delegations may not have an independent accounting of the general partnership. Each delegation will have in the general open an account of income and expenditure, which recorded all income from the activities of the delegation, however, the revenue generated by membership dues, less the amount of Ahimsa 6 euros / year for costs of correspondence, newsletter, etc..
Projects will be projects of the Delegations of ahimsa, so each project will need consideration as any other project of the association, as one more in the catalog to be issued each year, keeping an account of income and expenses.
expenses generated by a project of any delegation shall be borne by the delegation to administer it, and as we have said before never in charge of the project. Therefore, a delegation before preparing and submitting a project must have the funds necessary to cover costs that may accrue.
As a unique and provided a cause that requires it and after the consensus meeting, a delegation may open a bank account, bearing in mind the performance criteria described above, using the account only for the purpose approved by the Assembly, informing the same to any movement to occur, both income and refunds by sending the bank.
The delegations will have to save, logos, typographical styles, logos and other identification of the association.
Delegations will be responsible for lead tracking and justification of projects submitted by the delegation to the agency and before the assembly.
