Wheat is the most widely cultivated plant in the world. Each month of the year a mature wheat crop somewhere in the world. It is the most important crop of the United States and Canada and grows in large areas in most countries of Latin America, Europe and Asia. Apparently this cereal was one of the earliest cultivated plants and has identified the deep relations between cereal cultivation and permanent settlements.
Topping the list by volume of world wheat production, are China, India, USA, Russia, France and Canada, in that order. |
