The Environmental Council has allocated a total of 957,804 euros to fund 36 projects in 32 municipalities in the region, for the installation of solar thermal panels and Photovoltaics in buildings and facilities for public use.
These grants, whose amount has fluctuated between 15,000 and 30,000 euros, is designed to encourage the use of renewable energy in Cantabria, as reported by the counselor, Jose Ortega, a wheel the press who have come, including the mayors of Carter, Colindres Reinosa, Reocín, Ruesga, Santa Maria de Cayon, Torrelavega, Val de San Vicente and Valderredible.
The Ministry has funded 23 projects for the installation of solar thermal panels, totaling 571,582 euros. The projects have been rated according to their nature, necessity, desirability, and social impact of the action, its relevance to the project technical specifications developed by the Department of Energy Solar IDEA, the integration of architectural and landscape installation, energy efficiency and optimization of the project, the share of conventional energy replaced by solar energy and the existence of other documented actions and initiatives for harnessing renewable energy to the public in the municipality.
In the case of the 13 projects approved for the installation of infrastructure for the use of photovoltaic solar energy, which has invested a total of 386,222 euros, the Environment has also rated the program of reinvestment profits generated by the installation in environmental actions, whether or not the system is connected to the electricity, and the absence or low presence of electricity infrastructure in the area if it is an isolated system.
Solar Energy
The use of solar energy is done by collectors that concentrate the direct solar radiation to heat a fluid to high temperatures. With this source heat generated electricity. In the solar high-temperature, fluid conductor, which may be thermal oil, water or air, reaching temperatures up to 1000 degrees centigrade, allowing its use for heating purposes or to generate electricity. The average temperature solar installations, which achieve temperatures up to 400 degrees Celsius to produce electricity and heat to various industrial applications.
Low temperature systems, which are in this case will receive the aid, achieve temperatures between 45 and 60 degrees, enough to meet the needs of hot water, heating or air conditioning of swimming pools.
solar energy
solar collectors convert solar energy into electrical power and can be directly connected or not to the power grid. The isolated systems allow access to electricity without creating other infrastructure, which are often used for dwellings, signs, or agricultural applications. The advantage of those who dumped the energy generated to the network is that the investment by selling energy. The systems are connected, according to the power they generate, apply to the domestic sector, or services are solar farms.
The use of renewable energy in environmental benefits, such as reducing CO2 emissions and fossil fuel consumption and allows for efficient and sustainable management of natural resources. It also contributes to the creation of direct and indirect employment, economic development and enhancing social cohesion. Finally, renewable energy producing economic benefits due to savings in emissions, independence from fossil fuel reserves and the sale of electricity. For these reasons, the need to strengthen renewable energy has been collected at the international level, the Kyoto Protocol, European, through the White Paper, national, through the Development Plan of Renewable Energies in Spain 2000-2010 (PFER) and regional levels, the Energy Planning Cantabria 2005-2011.
