Gastroenterology 2006: Celiac Disease
The next 24 to November 25, 2006 will be the VI International Course on Digestive Disease Monograph of hospitals, organized by Dr. Onofre Alacón, Chief of Gastroenterology. The theme for this year is the celiac disease , a syndrome characterized by damage in the small intestine caused by an allergy to a protein of vegetable origin, gliadin. This disease can produce symptoms very diverse and is estimated to affect one in every 150-200 people in our country, both children and adults.
For this edition there are pediatricians, primary care physicians, gastroenterologists and members of celiacs disease associations to make a thorough review of this disease.
