 Ten high-level experts discuss starting tomorrow at Santander on the quality of life, water and environment in cities, while also showing that there are ways to project cities of the XXI century. To this end, the city of Santander and Cantabria and Harvard universities have promoted the Second Forum of the City of Santander, which will include both a series of lectures and presentations, from 20 to June 22, as the sample cities: 10 ways to project the city, which will be displayed until July 3. Admission to this event exhibition is free.
The opening ceremony of the event will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, at 9.30 pm and will be attended by Vice Campus, Organization and Communication, Jorge Tomillo-representing-rector, and International Relations, José Manuel Revuelta and vice Quality and Educational Innovation, Beatriz Arizaga and Academic Planning and Faculty, Concepción López. Also on the table the coordinators of the forum: Iñigo Losada, a professor in the Department of Science and Technology of Water and Environment UC, and Brian Kenet, the Center for Technology and Environment of the Harvard University Graduate School of Design.
Following the inaugural session will take place, namely at 10.30 am, the first talk of the day scheduled for the three of them-set at 10.30, 12.45 and be on 16 hours-care nature in the urban landscape design and shall be borne by Professor George Hargreaves, of Harvard University. Over the past 25 years, this expert has been a prominent figure in the emerging field of ecological design, which is undergoing a major development by the need to enhance and preserve natural systems.
In the last lecture of the day scheduled for 18:30, Mark Pantaleón (UC and Apia XXI) talks about the river as the backbone of the urban landscape: the Llobregat and Barcelona. The conference will take place after the opening of the exhibition Cities: 10 ways to project the city, an act that will be led by the curator of the show, Professor, University of Cantabria Soledad Nogués, and Joan Busquets and Felipe Correa. These two renowned experts in urban design are the authors of the research embodied in the exhibition, which invites an active reflection on the present and the future of our cities. This presents the most important urban design currently in use, showing case studies from around the world: from the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao and some examples of Santander Airport to the City of Seoul or the Battery Park City of New York.
The city of Santander Forum II will continue on Wednesday June 21, beginning at 9 am with presentations by various experts Joan Busquets (Harvard University), Raul Medina ( UC) and Peter's Tredici (Harvard), as well as a presentation of the proposed park from the flames, which will take place from 18 to 20 hours. On Thursday, 22 days will be the turn of the panellists Robert France (Harvard), Mariano Blanco (Aqualia), Iñigo de la Serna (Alderman of Environment of the Municipality of Santander) and José Fernández (director general de Costas, Ministry of Environment) . The conclusions of the forum will be presented at 1745 hours by the director of the ETS de Ingenieros de Caminos, Canales y Puertos of UC, Professor Jose Antonio Revilla.
