At the Council of Agriculture Ministers of the EU was reached yesterday a proposal for general guidance in relation to changing the current rules governing organic farming. Spain, which has supported this proposal, believed to be improved some aspects of it throughout the next half of 2007.
Spain has preserved fish that can be included in the main part of the label the words used in organic farming. This agreement will give added value to the Spanish canned fish.
Also, within this general direction has been established mandatory EU logo, which will allow for clear identification for the consumer of products from organic farming. This logo must be accompanied by an indication of the origin of the product where it is specified whether or not the European Union.
Furthermore, the Council of Agriculture Ministers of the EU adopted the Regulation governing imports of organic products from third countries. This approval will extend the current import regime ended December 31 this year.
