Civil society exists in a broad consensus on the centrality of participation in the development process.
A same time, the local scene has gained increasing prominence as a privileged space for interactorales processes and participatory development.
In turn is necessary to detect an activity leader, around which to articulate the local development process and it is in this sense that incorporate tourism as a strategic tool not only for the long history of tourism and conditions pertaining to the norpatagónica Andean region, if not for its key position in the context of social, economic ties to the environment and sustainable development.
In this sense, the foundations UNIDA, Plan 21 and Wildlife co-Argentina for the second time the conference Patagónica on Sustainable Management of Tourism and Local Development (Madryn were the first in 2005 with excellent results), an initiative that has support from the International UNESCO Chair in Sustainable Human Development, University for International Cooperation in Costa Rica and many local and regional players, with the objectives of: • To sensitize the community about the participatory local development and his relationship with the Sustainable Management of Tourism
• Install the debate on sustainable tourism and certification as tools for natural areas, and the role of communities in their management
• Provide tools for participatory planning and management of sustainable tourism, including Local Agenda 21, providing better access to new markets and sources of cooperation
• Launch training programs and technical cooperation to develop after 2007 in the region.
Through plenary sessions scheduled for a minimum of 200 participants Patagonian national and international workshops and tables and an open seminar posgradual, over three days will be undertaken involving the various axes, producing a final document signed by participants.
As in its first edition, then this conference, will be installed capacity and associated management cooperation programs in the region.
